EURICAM, the European Research Initiative for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) has achieved its goal to implement CAM into the 7th Framework Program of the EU. CAM is now a research topic within the HEALTH topic of the research program and several proposals have been submissioned to the Comission. EURICAM itself is therefore no longer needed as a researcher´s network for lobbying their cause. But of course research agenda - especially in the field of CAM - need ongoing lobbying and support, but also the embedment in the global communitiy of researchers. Therefore the majority of EURICAM members and correpondents voted to become part of a larger group and joined the International Society for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research – ISCMR: www.iscmr.org European Chapter of ISCMR In November 2008 the European Chapter of ISCMR was launched at the First European Congress for Integrative Medicine in Berlin. The chapter is a regional interest group within ISCMR. It is meant to become a lively and prolific platform for CAM research in Europe. Such an initiative certainly goes along with recent European politics to strengthen the competitiveness of EU member states in the field of international research activities. We are very happy that about 50 ISCMR members were present at the exciting launch in Berlin. If you would like to know more about the European Chapter, please write an E-Mail to the secretary Purusotam Basnet or to one of the other representatives: Cheryl Ritenbaugh Claudia Witt Laurie LaChance The ISCMR European Chapter´s next meeting will be in Berlin at the ECIM Congress November 20-22, 2009 www.ecim-congress.org The meeting will be on Saturday, 21, 1.30 to 2.30 p.m. The EURICAM website will be closed by the end of 2009 and all visitors will be guided directly to the ISCMR website.
